The solar eclipse of July 22, 2009 will be the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century, lasting at most 6 minutes, 39 seconds.[1] It has caused tourist interest in eastern China and India.[1][2][3]
The eclipse is part of saros series 136, like the record-setting Solar eclipse of July 11, 1991. The next event from this series will be on August 2, 2027.[4] The exceptional duration is a result of the moon being near perigee, with the apparent diameter of the moon 8% larger than the sun (magnitude 1.080).
This will be the second in the series of three eclipses in a month, with the lunar eclipse on July 7 and the lunar eclipse on August 6.

P.S: Awww, I wish we can see & experience this eclipse fully here in Malaysia...because this is the longest solar eclipse in recent history. A solar eclipse with this magnitude won't happen again until 2132! What I know is that people in China & India will get to see this eclipse in it's full glory...I wish I was there. Just cross your fingers guys, and hope that we'll get to see this eclipse tomorrow! :D
